Piñatex is a vegetal cruelty free vegan leather made with pineappleleaves fibers extremely light-weight and strong. In the Philippines the farmers harvest the leaves from the pineapples at the same time as the fruit, before burned but nowadays un important income for the farmers. The fibers from the leaves are transformed with a industrial proceeding. The remaings of the leaves are used as fertiliser on the farms (For 1m² of Piñatex 480 leaves are needed, about 16 pinapples). After the fibers are transformed to a non woven fabric.
Camille Vial spent her first fashion years in Paris after a master in stylisme in Berlin. Then she worked six years for French multimass clothing companies in New Delhi. When she came back to France Camille knew she wanted to create a fashion world of her own, a lot more ethical one. Raphaël Vial, Camille´s brother, comes from a business school. Passionated by the sea, he was a skipper for a while on a ship protecting the environment. So creating an eco-responsoable fashion company was not such a bad idea for him.
